Gifmake

Gifmake turns a set of still images into one animated GIF. It takes PNG, JPG and existing GIF files, and you set the frame order, the playback speed and how long any single frame shows. You can reverse the sequence, draw on a frame or add text to it, resize the output and trade quality against file size. The site states images are processed on your own device and never leave it.

It runs in any browser, phone included, with nothing to install. It is free, needs no signup, adds no watermark, and has run this way since 2008. GIF is the only output it makes.

Use Gifmake if:

• You have several images and want them looping as one animated GIF, free and without an account.
• You want the finished GIF unbranded, since nothing is stamped on the output.
• You want control over timing, setting how long each individual frame stays on screen rather than one speed for all.
• You want to tweak the animation itself: reorder frames, reverse them, or draw and add text on a frame.
• You care about privacy, as the site states your images are processed on your own device and are not uploaded.

• You want to make a GIF from a video clip. Gifmake works from images, not video. Ezgif and Giphy GIF Maker can cut a GIF from a short clip.
• You want ready-made templates, stickers and captions in a design tool. Canva GIF Maker or Adobe Express GIF fit that.
• Your frames are large or numerous. Each file must be under 8 MB, one upload takes 20 files, and a GIF holds up to 250 frames.
• You need an output other than a GIF. Gifmake only produces GIF files.
