Adobe Express GIF
Adobe Express GIF lets you make animated GIFs from photos, text and elements for free, in your browser or on iPhone and Android.
Overview
Adobe Express GIF Maker turns photos or a short clip into a looping GIF in the browser. Upload JPG or PNG images, arrange them as frames and set the speed, or trim a clip of up to about a minute down to the moment you want. Text, stickers, filters and templates from the Adobe Express editor go on top, and three export sizes cover posts, messages and embeds.
It runs in the browser and in the Adobe Express iPhone and Android apps, with an Adobe account required. GIF making and the download are free. Premium is a subscription that adds the full Adobe Stock and font libraries plus monthly generative credits, and many Creative Cloud plans include it.
Key features
When to use
Use Adobe Express GIF Maker when you want an animated image:
- You want a looping GIF for a post, invite or message without installing anything.
- You have a handful of photos to run as a flipbook-style GIF, with control over frame order and speed.
- You have the moment on video and need it as a GIF, trimmed before converting.
- You want text, stickers or a template on the GIF, in the same editor.
- You already design in Adobe Express and want animated versions of that work.
When NOT to use
Skip Adobe Express GIF Maker if any of these describe you:
- You need frame-level control: per-frame timing, transparency or palette tuning. A dedicated GIF maker goes deeper.
- You caption GIFs from an existing library. Giphy's GIF maker is built for that.
- You do not want an Adobe account, which Express requires even for free use.
- Your source clip is long. The video-to-GIF route tops out around a minute.
