Vectr is a vector editor that runs in a browser. You draw logos, icons and shapes out of paths, so the art stays sharp at any size. An AI layer sits on top of the manual tools. It generates logos and vector art from a text prompt, turns a JPG or PNG into a scalable SVG, and removes image backgrounds. Several people can work in the same file at once.
Vectr is a Pixlr product and runs in the browser only, with an account required. Export is SVG, PNG and JPG. The free tier is limited to JPG, carries ads and is for personal use only. Plus and Premium lift those limits, each sold as a subscription or as a one-time lifetime purchase. AI tools spend credits.

When to use
Use Vectr if:
- You need to draw a simple logo, icon or shape and do not want to install a design program.
- You want a first draft generated for you. The AI makes a logo from a prompt, and you then edit it as normal vector shapes.
- You have a photo or PNG that needs to become a scalable SVG, for a print job or a large display.
- Two or more of you need to work on the same file, since edits show in real time rather than being passed back and forth.
- You have been sent an EPS, AI, PDF or SVGZ file and need to open it. Vectr reads all four, and opening one spends credits.
When NOT to use
Skip Vectr if any of these describe you:
- You want the free, no-signup editor Vectr used to be. It now needs an account. The free tier exports JPG only, shows ads and covers personal use only, so Vectorpea is closer to what you remember.
- You have to deliver an EPS, AI or PDF file. Vectr opens those formats but writes only SVG, PNG and JPG.
- You do heavy illustration or print work and need an installed program with advanced typography and effects. Inkscape or Adobe Illustrator do that work, and Vectr dropped its own desktop app.
