TinyPNG

TinyPNG makes image files smaller so pages load faster. Its smart lossy compression reduces colors and detail in ways designed to be invisible at normal viewing, and files often come out a fraction of their original size. It handles PNG, JPEG, WebP and AVIF, plus animated PNG and JPEG XL, and converts HEIC photos to JPG. A WordPress plugin, a Figma plugin, a developer API and an image CDN automate the same compression.

It runs in the browser only. The free web tool takes 20 images at a time, 5 MB each, converts 3 images per session, and shows ads. Web Pro is a subscription that lifts the compression and size limits. Only Web Ultra makes conversion unlimited.

Skip TinyPNG if any of these describe you:

• You need lossless files: print masters, archival originals, or images that will be edited repeatedly. Its compression is lossy by design. Keep originals elsewhere.
• Your files are larger than 5 MB and you will not pay. Other image compressors draw different limits.
• You want to change dimensions, not only file size. Pair it with an image resizer, or use the API which resizes.
• You convert between formats all day. The free tier and Web Pro both stop at 3 conversions per session, so that needs Web Ultra.
• Your sources are RAW or TIFF camera files. Export to JPEG or PNG first in a photo editor.
