WatermarkRemover.io

Upload a photo and the AI finds the watermark and takes it out, with nothing to select or paint over yourself.

Overview

WatermarkRemover.io takes watermarks, logos and text overlays out of photos, and you do not tell it where the mark is. You upload the image, the AI decides what is a watermark and what is the photo underneath, then erases it and fills the gap. It handles a logo in a corner or a pattern repeated across the whole picture. PDF pages have their own tab beside images.

It runs in a browser and in official iPhone and Android apps. Without an account you get 2 images a day. A free account adds 3 credits and 3 downloads a month, and unlocks bulk uploads. Past that you buy credits, and one credit clears one image or two PDF pages. The vendor states credits are non-refundable.

When to use

WatermarkRemover.io fits when you want a mark gone and do not want to do any work. Use it if:

  • You have a stock photo or template you licensed and want the preview mark cleared from your own copy.
  • The watermark is a repeating pattern across the whole image. Painting over that by hand is slow, and the automatic detection is built for it.
  • You want to see the result before committing. The split-screen preview shows the original next to the cleaned version.
  • You have one or two photos and no account. Two images a day run without signing up.
  • You clean up marks regularly and want it inside your existing work. Paid plans include an API, and there are Photoshop and Figma plugins.
  • You are on a phone. The official apps are UnmarkIt on iPhone and Watermark Remover on Android, both from the same company.

When NOT to use

Skip WatermarkRemover.io if any of these describe you:

  • You want to say what gets removed. Detection is fully automatic, with no brush to mark the area. Dewatermark AI lets you paint over the mark when the AI misses it.
  • The mark sits on top of something detailed, like a face or text. The AI invents what was behind it, and there is no manual fix when it guesses wrong. Adobe Photoshop gives you the brush.
  • You want to erase an object rather than an overlay. That is a different job for an object removal tool such as Cleanup.pictures.
  • You want unused credits to keep. Subscription credits are cleared at the end of each month, and the vendor states credits and plans are not refundable, whichever plan you buy. Other watermark removers price differently.
  • The image is not yours to change. The vendor's own guidance is that a cleaned image should not be used commercially without the owner's consent.

Frequently asked questions

You can clean 2 images a day without an account. A free account gives you 3 credits and 3 downloads a month, and it unlocks bulk uploads. Past that you buy credits, and one credit clears one image or two PDF pages. The API and the Photoshop and Figma plugins are on the paid side.

Credits that come with a subscription are cleared at the end of each month, as they do not carry over. Those plans are sold as a pool of credits for the year, billed annually, with a monthly option as well. Credits bought as a one-time purchase last a year from purchase. The vendor states plainly that it does not offer refunds on credits or subscriptions, so check its pricing page before buying a large pack.

No. This tool has no brush or selection. You upload the image and the AI decides what counts as a watermark. That is why it is fast. It is also the limit: if it takes out something you wanted to keep, or leaves part of the mark, there is nothing to adjust. A tool with a brush lets you point at the mark instead.

The AI fills the gap with what it predicts was there, so the result depends on what the mark was covering. A watermark over a plain background or an even texture gives it a lot to go on. One sitting across a face, fine detail or text gives it less.

It depends entirely on the image and is not something a tool can settle for you. The vendor's own position is that watermark-free images should not be used commercially without the owner's consent. Removing a preview mark from something you licensed, or a mark from your own photo, is a different situation from taking one off an image you found.

The official iPhone app is called UnmarkIt and the Android app is called Watermark Remover, both published by Shopsense Retail Technologies, the company behind the website. Names like these attract copies, so check the publisher rather than the app name.

They are processed on the vendor's servers, because that is where the AI runs. Its privacy policy states that uploaded files are kept until 45 days after an account is deleted. It also states it will erase your data within 45 days if you ask. It also states that data is encrypted in transit and in storage. Check the policy for the current rule if the images are sensitive.
