Photoroom AI Backgrounds
AI-generated backdrops for product photos: describe the scene, the AI builds it around your product.
Removes the background from a photo and puts back a colour, a stock image, a blur or a scene the AI generates from your description.
LightX Background Editor changes what sits behind the subject in a photo. The AI separates foreground from background on its own. You pick the replacement: a plain colour, your own image, one from its stock library, a blur, or a scene generated from a description or a preset. Colour correction pulls an indoor subject and a bright outdoor backdrop closer together.
It runs in the browser and in the LightX iPhone and Android apps. Removing or swapping the background is free, with no watermark on the download. That download is a low-resolution JPG with no PNG option. A transparent cutout or a full-size file needs Pro, a subscription, or one-time credit packs LightX states do not expire.

Yes, up to a point. Removing the background, or swapping it for a colour, a gradient or a preset backdrop, spends no credits and the download carries no watermark. That download is a low-resolution JPG, and there is no PNG option, so you cannot get a transparent cutout on the free plan. Pro raises the resolution and adds PNG. Generating a background from a text prompt draws on AI credits.
A new free account starts with 12 AI credits. Pro comes with a monthly allowance. Credits bought as a one-time purchase are the exception: LightX states they have lifetime validity, which suits someone who swaps a background every few months rather than every week.
Yes. You can describe the setting you want in plain words, or pick a preset style, and it generates the scene behind your subject. What you get is a generated environment rather than a photograph of a real place, so only the subject comes from your original photo.
Because the lighting does not match. A person lit indoors placed on a bright outdoor scene will look wrong however clean the cutout is, since the light on them comes from the wrong direction and colour. The colour correction here exists for that, and it helps most when the two are already close.
The tools here are automatic, so you are choosing backgrounds rather than brushing a mask. Hair and fine edges are the hardest part for any automatic cutout. If your photos regularly need the mask corrected by hand, an editor with a brush will save you more time than a better generator.
Yes, the same background editor is in the LightX apps for iPhone and Android as in the browser, on one account. The plan rules follow you across them, so free downloads come out at low resolution on a phone too. The cutout and the generation both run on LightX's servers, so every version needs a connection.
