Evoto

AI photo editor for photographers: it retouches every face in a shoot, in bulk.

Overview

Evoto is an AI photo editor for photographers who shoot people in volume: weddings, events, headshots, schools, newborns. It finds every face in a photo and retouches each person individually with sliders. One saved style applies across a whole shoot, and the AI flags closed eyes, blur and duplicates. It reads most camera RAW files.

The full editor is a free desktop app for Windows and Mac. There are also iPad and phone apps, and quick one-off tools in the browser. Editing is free: you pay credits only when you export a photo. Credits come as pay-as-you-go packs or a subscription.

When to use

Use Evoto if:

  • You shoot weddings or events and deliver hundreds of edited photos per booking. You can set one style and apply it to the whole shoot.
  • You run a portrait, headshot, school or newborn photography business where every face needs the same clean, consistent look.
  • You spend hours editing faces one by one in Photoshop, or pay someone else to do it. Evoto does that work with sliders, in bulk.
  • You organize your photos in Lightroom. Evoto reads most camera RAW files, so it works alongside Lightroom instead of replacing it.
  • You want clients to see edited photos during the shoot. Connect your camera to the phone app, and photos appear with your style already applied, ready to share as an online gallery.

When NOT to use

Skip Evoto if any of these describe you:

  • Your photos rarely contain people. Evoto is built around editing people. For landscapes, products or general edits, a general photo editor fits better.
  • You want a free full-resolution export. Every Evoto export costs a credit. The browser tools vary: some give a few free runs, and some download free only at low resolution.
  • You combine or heavily rework images. Evoto has no layers, the system Photoshop uses to stack and blend images. That work still belongs in Adobe Photoshop.
  • You want full manual control over every detail. Evoto works through sliders and automation: you tell the AI what you want, and it makes the edit.

Frequently asked questions

Downloading Evoto is free, and all editing tools are free while you edit. New accounts get 50 free credits. You pay only when you export an edited photo, and an export costs one credit per photo. Credits come as pay-as-you-go packs or through a subscription. In the browser tools, a low-resolution download is free and the full-resolution one costs the credit.

No. After a photo has been exported once, exporting it again is free, even if you change the edits completely.

Close to it. The desktop app for Windows and Mac is the full product. The iPad app has a large part of it, including portrait retouching, color tools and saved styles. The phone app is a full editor too: portrait retouching, color correction, presets, body editing, batch editing and camera tethering. The browser tools handle quick one-off edits and need an account, and how much they give free varies from tool to tool. One account shares your credits and saved styles across all devices, and every version needs internet, since the AI runs on Evoto's servers.

Not entirely. Evoto reads most camera RAW files, so you can keep organizing photos in Lightroom and use Evoto only to edit the people in them. It has no layers, so combining several images into one still needs Photoshop. It exports in JPG, TIFF and RAW.

Yes, eventually. Pay-as-you-go credits are valid for a fixed period after purchase, currently two years. Subscription credits carry over while you keep renewing, up to five times the credits in your new package. If a subscription ends, there is a 30-day window in which renewing keeps those credits. Check Evoto's payment page for the current rules before buying a large pack.

Evoto holds two recognized security certifications, ISO/IEC 27001 and SOC 2 Type II, and states that it complies with GDPR and CCPA. It states that photos are deleted from its servers after processing unless you turn on cloud sync, and that your images are not used to train its AI without permission. If your client contracts restrict sharing photos with outside services, check them against Evoto's terms first.
