Adobe Express Unblur

Free sharpening tool from Adobe Express: slide to unblur a photo in your browser or phone.

Overview

Adobe Express Unblur sharpens a soft photo with one slider. It is the Sharpen control in Adobe Express: you drag it until edges look crisper, and can nudge contrast, brightness and noise reduction alongside it. There is no separate AI deblur engine, so heavy blur improves only a little. The result downloads as a PNG, JPG or PDF.

It runs in the browser and in the Adobe Express iOS and Android apps. Sharpening is on the free plan with no credit cost. Premium, a paid subscription, adds more templates and assets but is not needed for this tool.

When to use

Use Adobe Express Unblur when a photo is soft and you want a quick fix:

  • You have a slightly soft or out-of-focus photo and want a quick fix with one slider.
  • You want to sharpen text in a screenshot or scanned image so it is easier to read.
  • You are already in Adobe Express building a design and want to tidy a photo in the same project.
  • You edit on your phone: the same Sharpen slider is in the iOS and Android apps.
  • You want a free fix before paying for a dedicated sharpening tool.

When NOT to use

Skip Adobe Express Unblur if any of these describe you:

  • You need an AI deblur that rebuilds lost detail rather than sharpening edges. A dedicated image sharpener may go further.
  • You want layer based, manual retouching. Adobe Photoshop gives you that control.
  • You must process many photos at once. Adobe Express sharpens one photo per edit, with no batch mode.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. The Sharpen control is part of the free plan, and you can sharpen and download a photo without paying. Adobe charges for the Premium plan, a subscription which adds more templates and assets, but basic sharpening stays free.

Yes. The same Adjustments and Sharpen slider are in the Adobe Express iOS and Android apps, and projects sync across devices. The apps need an internet connection, since the editing happens on Adobe's servers.

It sharpens edges and can reduce the look of mild blur, but it is an adjustment, not a dedicated deblur engine. Heavily blurred or motion-blurred photos will improve only so far.

You can download the sharpened photo as a PNG, JPG or PDF. The background stays as it was unless you also use the background tools in the same editor.

For a one-slider fix it is enough. For selective, layered sharpening or rebuilding lost detail, a dedicated image sharpener or Adobe Photoshop goes further.
